What is included in the rental price?
A) Cars:
How much is the security deposit?
The amount of the security deposit depends on the vehicle and the insurance type you choose. For car, motorcycle, and scooter rentals with CDW insurance, the security deposit is equal to one third of your excess amount. For ATV rentals with CDW insurance, the amount of the security deposit is a little less than one third of your excess amount. For car, motorcycle, and scooter rentals with FDW insurance, the security deposit is equal to half of your reduced excess amount. For ATV rentals with FDW insurance, the security deposit is equal to half the amount of the security deposit with CDW insurance. For car rentals with SCW insurance there is no security deposit. The only exceptions are groups I, J, K, where the security deposit is 100€, and group L where the security deposit is 200€.
In which cases does the insurance not cover damages?
Damage to the undercarriage of the vehicle. If the vehicle is being driven with a flat tire, or with the over-heat indicator on. If the vehicle is being driven off-road. Damage to the interior of the car. Missing accessories (baby seats, helmets, helmet cases, vehicle keys, wheel covers, etc.). For loss of personal belongings. If the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If the driver violated the Greek traffic law. If the driver does not have a valid driving licence. For damages caused by a driver that is not registered in the rental contract. For parking fines and traffic offences.
In which cases do I have to pay for road assistance?
In cases of customer negligence, for example driving off-road, losing a key, or running out of fuel.
Is there an extra fee to drop off my vehicle at a different location?
For one-way rentals from/to Preveza airport, you must add the “Lefkada Town – Preveza Airport One-way Collection Fee”, or the “Agios Nikitas – Preveza Airport One-way Collection Fee”. For one-way rentals between Lefkada Town and Agios Nikitas, you must add the “Lefkada Town – Agios Nikitas One-way Collection Fee”. For hotels the delivery charge is automatically included in the booking price. If you are picking up a vehicle from a Hotel in Lefkada island and dropping it off to Preveza Airport, or the opposite, you also must manually add the “Lefkada Town – Preveza Airport One-way Collection Fee”. You can’t pick up or drop off a vehicle at a different location than the ones we offer at our website.
From which age can I rent? What is the maximum age?
A) Cars: Minimum age is 23 years for categories A, A1, A2, B, B1, C, C1, D, D1, and 25 years for categories E, E1, G, G1, I, J, K, L. Drivers 23-24 years old must add the “Young Driver Surcharge” insurance. Μaximum age is 75 years. Drivers 70-75 years old must add the “Senior Driver Surcharge” insurance. All drivers must have a driving licence for at least 2 years for categories A, A1, A2, B, B1, C, C1, D, D1 and 3 years for categories E, E1, G, G1, I, J, K, L.
B) Motorcycles and scooters:
Minimum age is 18 years for 50cc and 125cc, and 23 years for 150cc, 200cc, 300cc, 350cc, and 500cc. Μaximum age is 75 years. The driver must have a driving licence for at least one year for 50cc and 125cc, and 3 years for 150cc, 200cc, 300cc, 350cc, and 500cc.
C) Quad / ATV: Minimum age is 23 years for 300cc and 450cc, and 25 years for category 520. Μaximum age is 75 years. The driver must have a car driving licence for at least three years for categories 300, 450, and 520.
With which driving licence can I rent a vehicle?
A) Cars:
For renting a car a category B licence is required, which has been issued in a European Union country or in a country which is part of the Vienna Convention. Driving licences from Israel, Australia, the United States of America, United Kingdom and Canada are valid in Greece. Drivers from other countries need an international driving licence.
B) Motorcycles and scooters:
The driver must be holder of a valid driver’s licence or international driver’s licence for the respective motorcycle category (category AM for 50 cc, category A1 for 125 cc, category A2 or A for 150 cc or bigger).
Holders of a European Union country driving licence category B (for cars) are allowed to drive a 50 cc scooter in Greece. Some European countries allow their citizens to drive a 125 cc scooter with a licence category B (for cars), but in Greece you can only drive a 125 cc scooter if your licence writes category A1, A2 or A.
C) Quad / ATV:
For renting a quad/ATV a category B licence is required, which has been issued in a European country or in a country which is part of the Vienna Convention. Driving licences from Australia, the United States of America, United Kingdom and Canada are valid in Greece. Drivers from other countries need an international driving licence.
Can I choose the vehicle model when making a reservation?
When you make a reservation you book the category, we see the specific model you chose as your preference and are prioritising it for you. We try to assign your preferred model, but in case it’s not available, we’ll assign you a similar model of the same group. Also we retain the option to assign you a bigger category at no extra charge (free upgrade).
How do I change or cancel a reservation?
You can modify or cancel your reservation by sending an email to info@ioniancarrental.com, or contacting us by phone at +30 26450 25274. Please note that by changing the dates or category of vehicle, the rental price might change as well. Reservations for low season can be cancelled up to 2 weeks before your arrival. Reservations for high season (July and August) can be cancelled up to 3 weeks before your arrival. Your deposit will only be refunded if you cancel before the cancellation deadline.
Am I allowed to drive out of Lefkada Island?
We only offer road assistance and/or replacement vehicles on the island of Lefkada, and on the nearby mainland. You are not allowed to go to another island with one of our vehicles, with the exception of Meganisi. You are not allowed to cross the borders of Greece. If you plan to go somewhere else on the mainland, you need to let us know beforehand. There might be an extra charge for long distance trips.
Are there any roads that must be avoided?
The road to Megali Petra beach (near Kalamitsi village) is in bad condition. Your brakes might overheat and stop working temporarily, and because the road is very narrow, it’s very difficult for road assistance to reach you. Driving there is at your own risk.
What is the minimum rental period, and what time do I have to return the vehicle?
Minimum rental period is one day. Delays are charged with one fourth of the daily rate per hour. Delays of four hours or more are charged as a full rental day. Extensions of the rental must be agreed one day before the rental ends, and are subject to availability.
What is the minimum reservation period?
For low and mid season (September-June) the minimum booking length is one hour, but the minimum rental charge is one day. For high season the minimum booking length is 2 days for 1/Jul-19/Jul, and 21/Aug-31/Aug, and 3 days for 20/Jul-20/Aug. What happens with traffic fines?
The driver is responsible for all traffic and parking fines. Our staff will tell you where you can pay the penalty. Unpaid fines will be charged to the customer’s credit card.
What is the fuel policy?
The vehicle has to be returned with the same fuel level as it was taken. No money is refunded for excess fuel in the vehicle. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel or diesel, the customer will be charged the difference.

- Third party liability up to 1.300.000 € per accident.
- Bodily injuries to third party up to 1.300.000 € per victim.
- Personal Accident Insurance Driver 5.000 € (only for cars).
- Collision Damage Waiver Insurance (CDW): The insurance covers damage to the rental vehicle. The client’s responsibility is from 600 € to 1.800 € (for cars), from 450 € to 750 € (for scooters and motorcycles), and from 700 € to 1000 € (for quad/ATV) – depending on the vehicle category.

A) Cars:
- CDW (Collision Damage and Theft Waiver): With this insurance the customer is covered in the event of damage or theft of the rented vehicle. The customer is liable for the first 600 to 1.800 € (depending on the vehicle category). This insurance is included in the rental price. The value of the liability (excess) is as follows: Category A, A1, A2, B, B1 – 600 € // Category C, C1 – 750 € // Category D, D1, E, E1, G, G1 – 900 € // Category I, J, K – 1.200 € // Category L – 1.800 €
- FDW (Full Damage and Theft Waiver): With this insurance the customer can reduce the amount of liability (excess) to 1/3 of the original value. With FDW insurance the excess amount is as follows: Category • With FDW insurance the excess amount is as follows: Category A, A1, A2, B, B1 – 200 € // Category C, C1 – 250 € // Category D, D1, E, E1, G, G1 – 300 € // Category I, J, K – 400 € // Category L – 600 €
- SCW (Super Collision Damage and Theft Waiver): Same as FDW but covers the WHOLE amount. The client is not responsible to pay anything for the accident.
- CDW (Collision Damage and Theft Waiver): With this insurance the customer is covered in the event of damage or theft of the rented vehicle. The customer is liable for the first 450 to 750 € according to the vehicle category. This insurance is included in the rental price. The value of the liability (excess) is as follows: 50 cc & 125 cc — 450 € // 150 cc & 200 cc — 600 € // 300 cc & 350 cc & 500 cc — 750 €
- FDW (Full Damage and Theft Waiver):With this insurance the customer can reduce the amount of liability to 150 – 250 € according to the vehicle category. With FDW insurance the excess amount is as follows: 50 cc & 125 cc — 150 € // 150 cc & 200 cc — 200 € // 300 cc & 350 cc & 500 cc — 250 €
- We don’t offer the SCW insurance for Motorcycles and Scooters.
- CDW (Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Waiver): With this insurance the customer is covered in the event of damage or theft of the rented vehicle. The customer is liable for the first 700 – 1000 € according to the model. This insurance is included in the rental price. The value of the liability (excess) is as follows: Category Quad ATV 300 — 700 € // Quad ATV 450 — 800 € // Quad ATV 520 — 1000 €
- FDW (Full Damage and Theft Waiver):With this insurance the customer can reduce the amount of liability to 350 – 500 € according to the vehicle category. With FDW insurance the excess amount is as follows: 300 cc — 350 € // 450 cc — 400 € // 520 cc — 500 €
- We don’t offer the SCW insurance for ATVs.
